Islamorada, a group of six islands in the Upper Florida Keys, is known as “the sportfishing capital of the world,” and the accommodations reflect that image. Several of the inns even have the word “fishing” in their names.

Much of the fishing in Islamorada waters is done in the flats – bonefishing is very popular among vacationers, and there is as large number of charterboat captains headquartering on the islands of Islamorada. Sailfishing is another favorite pastime here.

Other water sports, such as kayaking and parasailing are popular in Islamorada for those not exclusively interested in fishing, and many accommodations offer the use of kayaks or small boats.
